PicksForLess is built to need as little of your data as possible. We have no accounts, no newsletter sign-up, no comment forms and no advertising trackers.
Who we are
The data controller for the limited personal data described here is HNR TECHNOLOGIES LTD, 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom, which publishes picksforless.com. You can reach us at hello@picksforless.com.
What we collect and why
- Server and security logs. Our site is delivered by Cloudflare, which processes technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, so it can deliver the site and protect it from attacks and abuse. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in running a secure website.
- Outbound shop clicks. When you click a "Check price" button, the request passes through our own link service on Cloudflare so we can add the retailer's affiliate tracking. The click is counted in our visit statistics (below), without storing who clicked; operational logs are kept only briefly by Cloudflare.
- Visit and click statistics. We count visits and shop-button taps ourselves, without cookies. To count each visitor once a day, we turn your IP address and browser type, together with a secret key, into a code that changes every day; the IP address itself is never stored, and the code is deleted the next day. To see how a visit went, we keep a short record: the time, the pages viewed, the shop button tapped, whether the page was touched (only yes or no, to tell people from bots), how far down each page you scrolled, your approximate location (country and city, from Cloudflare), device type and browser, and the site you came from. It is labelled only with part of that day's code and a random number for the page view (held in the page's memory, never saved on your device), so it can't be linked to another day's visits. Visit records are deleted after 30 days. What stays after that is daily totals, such as "40 visits from the UK", which say nothing about any one person. The statistics are kept with Cloudflare, our host. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in understanding how the site is used and keeping it working.
- Emails you send us. If you email us, we use your address and message to reply, and keep them only as long as needed to deal with your message.
We don't sell personal data, and we don't use it for advertising or profiling.
Retailers and affiliate programmes
When you follow a link to a retailer such as Amazon, you leave our site. That retailer, and the affiliate programme behind the link, may use cookies and collect data under their own privacy policies. They may tell us that a sale happened so we can be paid a commission, but they don't tell us who you are.
Processors and international transfers
Cloudflare, Inc. hosts and delivers our site and stores our visit statistics. Cloudflare may process data outside the UK, under safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask for access to, correction of or deletion of your personal data, object to or restrict how it's used, and ask for a copy in a portable format. Email us to make a request. If you're unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Cookies
We don't set any cookies for analytics or advertising. See our cookie policy.
Changes
If we change how we handle data, we'll update this page first and change the date at the top.
