HappenedBlack Friday 2025
Almost a fifth off the disc model at Amazon, reported on 23 November.
ForecastBlack Friday 2026
Likely a moderate drop
- Last year's deal came from Sony's own holiday promotion
- The April 2026 price rise gives stores a higher starting point
Should you wait for Black Friday?
Yes. The disc PS5 has been discounted every recent holiday season. Buying in October rarely beats the Black Friday promo.
The cheaper picks: what they really did
The percentages are real Black Friday 2025 cuts, as reported that week. The right column is our 2026 forecast.
Sony PlayStation 5 Digital Edition (slim)
Out since 2023
−20%Likely a moderate drop
Same console without the drive; you can add one later.
Microsoft Xbox Series S (512 GB)
Out since 2020
−5%Likely a small drop
Much cheaper to start with, but Xbox barely cut it last year.
What this means: Both PS5s fell by about a fifth. The Series S hardly moved, so its low price is the deal, not the discount.
